Dr. Matthew Castanho, ND

Naturopathic Physician

Dr. Castanho began his education at the University of Connecticut where he received a Bachelors of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences and Psychology.

This degree led him to the University Of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine where he earned his Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.).  He graduated with a 4.0 GPA, was the Valedictorian of his class, and the class President. While in school, he worked for a nutraceutical company, Biotics Research Corp., and hosted seminars and fitness trainings at a number of CrossFit gyms.

He is an adjunct professor at Bay Path University teaching Integrative Nutrition as part of an Integrative Health Certification. He commits hundreds of hours annually to continuing education, always looking for better ways to serve his patients.   Dr. Castanho has received advanced training in clinical nutrition, fitness programming, and the use of bio-identical hormone replacement.

Dr. Castanho is a board certified and licensed Naturopathic Physician with a private practice in East Hartford, Connecticut and in the process of opening a second location in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. He specializes in the treatment of chronic disease, utilizing natural therapies such as botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, diet and lifestyle counseling, and physical manipulation. 

Sarah Szymanski

Administrative Manager

Sarah handles the administrative side of the practice, including scheduling, calls, supplement orders/refills, supplement inventory, and certain emails. She also manages the Wholesome Place social media outlets for marketing and business development/outreach.

Sarah is a former patient herself who has a passion for biology and fitness.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two cats, Marge and Wallace. She also enjoys cooking, performing theater, and training in Muay Thai.
